Workcenter Feature Brief

Atlas Workcenter Enterprise is the online toolbox for creating and managing Websites of any size and scope. The following are brief descriptions of the many features and functions you will find in Workcenter Version 4:

Content

WYSIWYG Editor: Workcenter features a resizable WYSIWYG editor for the input and formatting of content (such as text, images, video, links, Flash). It is also used for adding fully configurable function tags for the display of search boxes, news article listings, RSS feeds, login forms, and much more in pages and articles.

WYSIWYG Page Composer: Workcenter features a WYSIWYG Page Composer which mirrors the exact look of the live site for easy input and formatting of content.

Site Manager: A system area where Atlas sites are managed hierarchically in both the Site List (Live) and Site List (Staged). Here, unique Websites and all related URLs, redirects, pages and links can be added, deleted, moved, organized in folders, and modified.

Staged Item List: A system area where staged changes to content can be sent by users for review prior to publishing on the live site.

Asset Manager: A system area where re-usable assets such as images, files, videos, Flash, and content blocks may be searched, viewed and managed. Also supports group file uploads.

URL Alias List: A system area where URL Aliases (vanity URLs), used for accessing pages and NewsMaker articles, are managed.

Automated Page Titling and Navigation: Workcenter offers page titling and navigation features that automatically adjust the live site to match changes made to the name or location of pages and articles in the system.

Multi-Language Support: Workcenter is UTF-8 compliant and therefore supports the display of any language (on pages, in forms, in navigation, etc.) without special plug-ins. This is part of the core system and no additional language packs are needed.

Timed Publishing: Workcenter provides options for defining the exact date and time when a page or article will appear on the live site. 

Spell Checking: Workcenter features a comprehensive Spellchecker as well as Find/Replace functions.

Caching: A built-in caching engine speeds output and ensures content freshness across all pages/sites.


Development

Style Manager: A system area where cascading style sheets (.css) used by templates and functions are managed. Here, style sheets and related style classes can be defined, referenced, reviewed and modified.

Template Manager: A system area where page templates, used for one or more sites, are managed. Here, Templates can be created, organized, reviewed and modified in both the Template List (Live) and Template List (Staged).

WYSIWYG Template Composer: Workcenter features a WYSIWYG Template Composer for the building and coding of templates (both full CSS and table-based layouts) within an environment that accurately represents how templates will appear on the live site and generates lean code.


Utility

Browser Support: Workcenter supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome (desktop and Android), and Safari (desktop and iOS) for admin users and content managers. And the pages they build with Workcenter can be viewed in any browser.

Atlas HelpCenter: Automatically logs into a complete online help system, containing descriptions of every system function.

Workcenter Search: The system search function for searching site content within Workcenter based on specific search parameters and keywords. Taxonomy searches can also be initiated here if the optional ContentCompass module is installed.

Recent Places/Edits: Automatically lists the last ten system areas visited (top) and last ten items modified (bottom) within Workcenter to allow quick returns to previous workspaces or items.

My Favorites: Allows users to manually define links to frequently used workspaces or items within the system, such as pages, the Site Manager, articles, etc.

Deleted Items Manager: A system area where users may recover items that have been deleted from various lists, such as the Site Manager.

Content Rollback: Allows users to revert pages and articles to previous versions of content, from a specific date and time.

Time Zones: Both personal and system time zones may be defined to allow the publishing of information according to the time zone where you, or your audience, reside.

Site Search: Built-in tools for adding search capabilities to any site in the system. Includes the ability to limit searches to selected pages or sections.


Management

Atlas User Manager: A system area where all system accounts are created and varying levels of access to the Atlas Workcenter, its functions and site content are defined. Permissions can be granted to users at the granular level, from full admin control of all sites to access to a single page.

Communication Manager: A system area where all e-mail communications related to system functions and modules, both to internal Atlas Users and to site visitors, are defined.

System Process Manager: A system area where all currently active system processes are displayed for Atlas system activities.

Configuration Manager: A system area where global parameters and default settings are defined for both system and module-related functions.

Backup/Restore: A system area where system-wide backups may be scheduled and manual backups may be initiated.
Personal Settings: A system area where admin users may change their password and other system preferences.


Modules

Atlas Modules: A system area where optional add-on modules, called Atlas Modules, and all related lists reside. Visit Workcenter Add-On Modules to see the current list, including modules for news features, podcasts, RSS feeds (reading and writing), taxonomy functions, password protection, and many more.

Third-Party Modules/Widgets: Workcenter supports the integration of external, third-party features into Workcenter-based sites, such as Google Analytics and DFP, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter APIs and embed codes. It also supports the integration of external features, such as widgets and iFrames.
